Fun English Club: Wadah Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk Anak

Tahun 2013 tepatnya, saya dan teman-teman yang mengambil paket konsentrasi Bahasa Inggris untuk Anak-anak (English for Children) memulai suatu program baru bernama Fun English Club. Program ini ditujukan sebagai wadah belajar Bahasa Inggris yang menyenangkan bagi anak-anak. Saya, yang kala itu dipercaya sebagai sekretaris kemudian diminta untuk menulis surat pembaca yang isinya lebih kurang mempromosikan program yang kami buat ini.

Awalnya, saya mengirimkan artikel saya untuk dimuat di kolom Surat Pembaca. Namun, tak dinyana jika artikel saya justru dimasukkan dalam kolom Opini oleh redaksi. Bagi saya, suatu hal yang menyenangkan bisa melihat tulisan saya dimuat di koran. Yang lebih menyenangkan lagi, tulisan di kolom Opini itu berhasil menarik lebih banyak peserta untuk mengikuti program Fun English Club. Bagi sebagian orang, atau mungkin bagi banyak orang, ini merupakan suatu hal yang sepele. Such a piece of cake. Tapi, bagi saya, ini merupakan cerita yang tak salah untuk diceritakan.

Untuk melengkapi blogpost kali ini, saya sertakan tulisan saya yang dimuat di kolom Opini koran Kedaulatan Rakyat. (Sorry, I forgot the exact date when my article was published so I couldn't mention it here). Anyway, here it is!

WADAH PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INGGRIS UNTUK ANAK

Saat ini, tuntutan masyarakat akan adanya ruang belajar Bahasa Inggris untuk anak-anak sangatlah tinggi. Hal ini dikarenakan munculnya isu tentang akan dihapuskannya bahasa Inggris sebagai mata pelajaran di sekolah dasar. Menanggapi adanya kemungkinan tersebut, suatu ruang pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di luar sekolah sangat diperlukan. Untuk itu, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, melalui jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris berinisiatif untuk mengadakan suatu kegiatan yang berhubungan dengan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk anak pada kegiatan Dies Natalies ke-49 tahun ini.

Kegiatan yang diberi nama Fun English Club tersebut merupakan suatu wadah bagi anak-anak untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris dengan metode belajar yang menyenangkan dan didampingi oleh guru-guru yang kreatif dan innovative. Kegiatan yang akan berlangsung pada bulan Maret hingga April 2013 ini akan dihandel oleh dosen-dosen professional dan mahasiswa-mahasiswa yang mengambil paket konsentrasi English for Children. Kegiatan Fun English Club ini diharapkan dapat menjawab tuntutan masyarakat yang haus akan ruang pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang memadai bagi anak-anak.

Home is not a home without a Mother

I read it somewhere on the internet; a home is not a home without a mother. I don't know why, lately I miss her just so much. Surely I miss her and remember her a lot, but it feels different these past few days; it hurts me missing her so badly. Just another random flying issue on my mind. I was singing one of my fav song, and it contains "Falling in Love with Strangers". Then suddenly I wonder how it feels. Have you ever felt so? In a sudden I think of meeting someone new and feel a kinda strange feeling warming up my body just like every time I met you. Well, that kinda feeling. I think it must be good to easily falling in love with someone you meet at the first sight. Just if I can do it. It wouldn't be so hurting and taking time to forget you, then, I guess.
