If you're a hijabi, I suggest you to try this DIY Pin Cushion. I'm pretty sure you need it. Based on my experience, it's one of supposed-to-have items for a hijabi. LOL
So I decided to make this DIY Pin Cushion today since I (feel like) have nothing to do at all ._. So I grabbed some unused items on my room and just began working on it. I post pictures here to help you guys make it. Just if you're willing to. Iyalahhh ~
Anyway, this is my first time making this kinda DIY item, so, I know it's not that pretty :v
1. STEP ONE
Surely obvious that choosing, selecting and preparing the materials is what you have to do first in making the DIY Pin Cushion. Here are the materials I use:
- An unused mineral water (let's recycle , use an unused material can be a great idea to start your DIY)
- Unused scarf (again, it's unused. well, i did use it long time ago, but no more, keke. Better to use it for my DIY rather than throw it away, hemat ._.)
- A fabric (silly me, i don't really know the name of the fabric. it's the orange one in the pciture)
- Glue (a super strong one , lol)
- A Scissor (and a knife actually. I used it to cut the bottle a bit, then continue cutting it with the scissor)
- Double tape & some colorful sticky notes for garnishes.
2. STEP TWO
Step two in making the DIY Pin Cushion is cutting the bottle. I forgot to take a picture showing this step :D Then, cutting the fabrics. both the orange fabric as the outer and the scarf which I use as the inner material. Make sure to choose the right fabric so the pins will smoothly pinned on the pin cushion you make. Err, is it understandable? :3
3. STEP AFTER STEP TWO
Next, grab the scarf or any material you use in your DIY Pin Cushion. Make sure you don't make it neither too big nor too small, so you have to measure it with the size of the bottle. Then, wrap it inside the fabric (the outer fabric). You can choose any color you want for the fabric (obviously). Again, measure it with the bottle so that the fabrics will fit well in it. To secure the bottom, you can either sew it or just tie it with a rubber band, like I did here. It helps the inside fabric not to come out of the outer fabric.
4. THE NEXT STEP
Are you still with me? :D
After that, this is, I think, the hardest step (halaahhh) in making the DIY Pin Cushion, that is putting the ball (I mean, the wrapped fabric, step 3) into the bottle. Ahya, I only use the bottom of the bottle. The size , the height, is up to you. So I apply some glue on the inside bottom of the bottle to secure the ball of the fabric. Just make sure it's secure so it won't come off.
5. STEP FIVE
After making sure that the fabric ball (i keep changing the term ._.) secures, now it's time to make it looks a bit more good looking :v You can use any kinds of materials to decorate it. Eventually, I use some colorful sticky or post-it notes in making this DIY Pin Cushion.
6. STEP, IS IT ALREADY THE LAST?
Yahoo, still continuing with decoration. I plan to write or draw something on the post-it notes so I prepare some highlighters, pens and markers. But, I end up writing nothing, keke. I still don't know what to write or draw. So I leave it that way, it's not bad looking, right?
7. TTAAADDDAAAA
Tada! Finally my DIY Pin Cushion is ready to use, lol. Somehow it makes me happy doing it.
